When I first moved abroad, one of my biggest challenges was the language. I was trying to manage life in Spanish, work in English, and neither of those is my first language.
That’s why Google’s new AI feature caught my attention. It now translates your spoken English into Spanish in real time during a Google Meet call—and more languages are on the way.
This might not help yet at the grocery store or the school gate—but it’s a big step forward. One day, it could mean fewer misunderstandings, less stress, and more confidence for people like me, living abroad.
And it’s not just personal. This could change how people work and do business. In the future, people who don’t speak English fluently can still join international calls, sell their ideas, and take part in global projects. This kind of tool could open up new opportunities in work and trade—for people everywhere.
Of course, more access also means more competition. If suddenly many more people can join the global conversation, what happens to prices? Will it be harder to stand out or earn money in some fields? It’s something worth thinking about.
Let’s see where this takes!
